The honoring of SARAS is behind 25 years of tireless efforts put in by the officers and staff of the Union Ministry of Rural Development and National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR).That’s why today Saras is celebrating its silver jubilee.
Chiranji Lal Kataria, Assistant Director of NIRDPR, says that Saras is a journey of dedication and self-reliance of rural women. SARAS was started in 1999 by officials of CAPART (now NIRDPR) and the Ministry of Rural Development to provide an excellent platform for marketing rural products in cities.
This was very far-reaching thinking. SARAS aims to be a unique example of women empowerment. Every stall of Saras is a story full of struggle which encompasses countless inspirations. He also told that Saras Food Festival is also going to be organized from coming 1st December which will be held at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi.
