MEWA 2025, a three-day exhibition for Nuts and Dry Fruits

New Delhi, January 22, 2025 : The Nuts and Dry Fruits Council (India) announces the 2nd edition of the MEWA 2025, a groundbreaking three-day trade show for nuts & dry fruits that is set to captivate industry leaders, buyers, sellers, and international delegates. MEWA 20252025 is scheduled for February 12th to 14th at Jio Convention Center, Mumbai. The exhibition promises to bring opportunities to be more streamlined & organised through networking and spotlighting the vibrant dimensions of the Indian nuts industry.

Recognizing the limitations faced by the organized trade of nuts and dry fruits in India due to its diverse geography and demographics, a press conference was held today that highlighted the significance of the event. MEWA 2025 is expected to host over 300 exhibitors from more than 50 countries, including prominent participants from the USA, Chile, Iran, Turkey, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. With an expansive exhibition space of over 10,000 square meters, attendees will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of products from both Indian and international suppliers.

Speaking during the press conference, Mr. Yash Gawdi, Co-Chairperson of MEWA 2025, said,  “The dry fruits market is set to reach $12 billion by 2029, growing at 18% CAGR. With MEWA 2025, we aim to address industry challenges, enhance visibility, and foster international partnerships with over 300 exhibitors.

At the Press Conference, Mr. Gunjan Jain, President of NDFC(I), also highlighted the growth of the industry and the shift in consumer preferences and stated, “Currently, India is one of the top 10 countries when it comes to the production of walnuts. The states like Kerala & Karnataka are the biggest producers of cashews & other dry fruits. However, there is a critical need to address the challenges such as land fragmentation and high interest rates, which impede large-scale farming for the nuts & dry fruits industry. The NDFC(I) is actively organizing events and exhibitions to draw industry leaders’ & experts’ attention toward streamlining the sector. The MEWA 2025 initiative focuses on enhancing planting efforts with an emphasis on high-yield crops that offer long-term benefits, particularly as Kerala’s agricultural production has stagnated and requires both economic and technological support.”

The last edition of MEWA, held in 2024, was extremely successful, attracting over 6,000 visitors and featuring 130+ exhibitors from 20 countries. The event showcased innovative products and held engaging discussions on market dynamics and industry challenges. The current edition aims to build on this momentum by providing a thriving platform for trade visibility and potential partnerships.

Talking about current trends in health-conscious dry fruit consumption, Mr. Deepak Agarwal, Secretary, NDFC(I) “The healthy snacks market, including nuts and dry fruits, is set to grow significantly as 91% of Indians seek nutritious alternatives. Increased awareness of healthy eating drives demand for convenient options. MEWA, an initiative by NDFC(I), aims to address these industry gaps and streamline processes to meet consumer needs.”

With rising consumer demand for health benefits—particularly among a growing number of younger consumers—they are prioritizing health and actively seeking healthier, more sustainable alternatives across various products and services. MEWA 2025 aims to raise awareness about these health advantages, encouraging youth to choose nuts and dry fruits voluntarily. To enhance this awareness, MEWA 2025 is collaborating with Indian cricketers and Bollywood stars to endorse and promote the benefits of nuts and dry fruits.

MEWA 2025 is actively making efforts to bring a change in the sector by taking various measures such as organizing the walnut plantation initiative at Chakrata in Uttarakhand, connecting with AICA to sign an MOU soon for cashew plantation and distribution of cashew plants, and more to boost international participation and implementing various strategies to enhance sales and production in the Indian nuts and dry fruits market.

The NDFC(I) invites you to be part of the collective journey, where we strive not only to elevate the industry but also to celebrate the richness and diversity of nuts, dates, and dry fruits in India. Let’s thrive, innovate, and shape the future of this dynamic and essential industry.
